Principles that are Patterns for the New Testament Church
- The Preaching of Christ crucified risen and coming again. (The receiving of the Word) - They were Baptized (The outward response to the preaching of the Word) = Belief, and then baptism = Baptism is the outward confession of the conversion that has already taken place in our heart. = Belief and Baptism go hand in hand - The addition of new believers = They added about 3,000 souls to the Church that day = “Let everything be done decently and in order” - A dedication to Discipleship = Doctrine: as systematic study of God = Our philosophy of ministry - Fellowship = Koinonia = to participate, fellowship = Sharing = Like being part of a club - The Lord's Table = The very special breaking of bread together = Not an option: it is an act of obedience = This is an ordinance, not a sacrament. = Does not give any kind of sacramental grace - Prayers = Prayer requests = Prayer journal = Emphasizes corporate prayer = Every friendship ought to begin with prayer = “Prayer is the nerve that moves the muscle of Omnipotence” = We will never be a praying Church corporately if you are not praying individually. - The Gospel = All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. = Sin must be paid for. = Jesus paid for that sin on the Cross. = You have to receive Him.
