I don't think that we've turned our backs on race, though I wish that we would since there is only one race of people, namely "human". Sometimes I think that if people couldn't identify themselves with a particular level of melanin, that they wouldn't know of any other way of being. They would suffer from an identity crisis. And why is it that the USA is so proud of having its first "black" pres ? If people want to base a person's identity on their skin tone, it would be more accurate to say that he is our first "mixed" pres. How ridiculous is that? Why not have the first curly haired pres or the first red-haired pres.? What century are we in?

“ Great Sermon! ”
The black people are upset because a white person dared to not let a black person attack and kill them.

“ Not Sermon! ”
Seeing as he was protecting his community, and that he could have been killed, he did a wise thing by using his weapon to defend himself. Also, he was watching out for his neighborhood. He was protecting others from robbery. Did you not see the robber who broke into the home and used his fists to 4 times beat the mother in the child's presence? Zimmerman was helping the neighborhood, not just himself. He called the police. Trayvon was beating other people from time to time. Zimmerman was biblical to protect his neighborhood ! There is a lot of biblical teaching on protecting the innocent.

“ Re: Comments ”
@tina: I think Jesus' instruction to the disciples to carry a sword was a general directive for protection in contrast to His instructions in Luke 6 to take nothing along with them. Surely He does not advocate His disciples to be aggressive or offensive with their weapons since He rebukes Peter soon after this because of his use of a sword in "self-defense" in the garden. It is the disciples who misunderstand that conversation leading Jesus to say that it is enough because of their lack of understanding. We see Paul assaulted frequently in Acts and not once is it recorded that he fights anyone. @kasey: Totally agree, and God is sovereign in life and death, however, the discussion was Zimmerman's choice to employ the firearm, which was a possibility after his poor decision making. There must be some human responsibility as well. @David: I don't know that we can answer that question for sure since we were not there to see what truly happened. However, I think our opinion is the use of a firearm should be a last resort, and while Zimmerman was physically assaulted, it does not seem that his injuries were life threatening. I believe our intent was not to address justification specifically; instead, we should consider every option before resorting to deadly force.

“ Not Guilty? ”
I am having a hard time understanding the gun culture in America. Many precious lives have been unnecessarily taken away because of negligent, irresponsible and hasty gun owners. My heart is breaking. It just doesnt seem right.
