Through SermonAudio, thousands of sermons, from thousands of pastors, can be heard at any time around the world by anyone with computer access. It is a marvel of modern technology. But there is a sermon preached every day which is much more powerful and much more widely distributed than anything that can be heard by internet or radio or television: It is the sermon preached by God's natural revelation. 'The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork.' Perhaps nowhere is God's glory more clearly revealed than in His heavens. David was astounded as he considered them. We can picture him tending his flock, worshiping God as he looked at the sky. If David had cause to worship God as he gazed into the night sky, how much more do we have cause to worship , now that we have more knowledge of the celestial orbs. This sermon considers some of what the universe teaches us of God's POWER, God's WISDOM, and God's CREATIVITY. For example, did you know that astronomers tell us that to go from one end of our galaxy to the other, traveling at the speed of light, would take 100,000 years? 'Scotty, you've got to get us to that galaxy!' 'I can get us there, Captain, but by the time we arrive we'll be long dead.' And ours is only one of at least 100 billion galaxies in the known universe---More stars, astronomers tell us, than there are letters in all the books that have ever been printed! Yet this Psalm also reminds us that general revelation can only take us so far. We also need the special revelation of God's Word (verses 7-11), which tells us that God is holy, and loving, merciful and kind.
