God demonstrated His love for us in specific and tangible ways: He sent His Son to save us from the just punishment for our rebellion, He gave us Himself from the infinite riches of the third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and He is maturing and completing His love within us. As a result, we may have confidence when we face our Lord Jesus Christ - as everyone must - that we will not be punished for our sins, because Jesus already took that penalty, but our faithfulness will be assessed and rewarded. We are freed from fear because of the outworking of God's love poured out within our hearts.
