From Joshua 24;2 we learn that the family of Abram were idol worshippers, yet Yahweh appeared to Abram and spoke to him and called him into his worship and service. The call of God to Abram is a radically life-changing call marked by command, promises, and the means of fulfillment - all of these at the initiative and by the power of God. Yet involved also is the response of obedience and worship by Abram. The transformation of Abram's life was not due to any worthiness on his part, but was solely the result of the electing love, mercy and purpose of Yahweh. This radical call to serve and worship the living God marks every believer down to the present hour. To God alone be the glory for saving undeserving sinners!
