Adversity causes tension, and so often that tension is vented on those we love. God’s Word reminds us that to grumble against one another, and excuse it by citing our stressful lives, is a sin against God. “Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned,” James 5:9 (NKJV). The lens of Scripture reveals that grumbling has an ugly twin: ingratitude. They always travel together. To grumble against other believers is really to complain against God who purposefully allows the very tensions we use to excuse our irritable spirits! In this message, we’ll continue our study in James with “From grumbling to gratitude.”
