5:1-12 Verse 1 concludes the previous section and develops the theme of freedom. It means Christ came to set us free so we must not put ourselves under a yoke of slavery. The freedom here is predominantly freedom from the yoke of the law. That is, we don't have to win acceptance with God by our own obedience to the law of God (cf. Stott). Paul brings out SIX things that apply to believers I want to briefly bring these points out and draw out some practical applications for all of us. The first three are very brief.

Three, as spiritual children, we will receive an inheritance (4:30, 31). Four, as spiritual children, we are called to be free in Christ (4:31; 5:1). Five, as spiritual children, we wait for the hope of righteousness (5:5). Six, as spiritual children, our faith works through love (5:6).
