Paul’s overall concern is that believers be self-controlled and live disciplined lives so that they would not be disqualified (9:24-27). II. We must learn to faithfully use the teaching and examples of the OT (10:6, 11). Several truths are best learned from the OT. 1. God’s holiness is best learned in the OT. 2. God’s resolute hatred against sin is best learned in the OT. 3. Man’s deep sinfulness is best learned in the OT. 4. Man’s desperate need for Christ is best learned in the OT.
