1. Justification answers the question of how God accepts a sinner and calls them righteous.
2. Now the Bible repeatedly tells us that justification is by grace alone.
3. Justification is by Christ alone.
4. Justification is through faith alone apart from our works.
5. Faith in this matter means a righteousness that is imputed to the sinner, the righteousness accomplished by Christ alone, by His GOOD WORKS OF FAITHFULNESS TO GOD IN EVERY JOT AND TITTLE.
6. So, what then was James talking about faith and works justifying a sinner?
7. Can works actually justify a sinner before God and answer to their sin and its condemnation, knowing that our best works of righteousness are like a filthy rag?
8. Was James talking about justification before God or justification before other men in respect of service in the body of Christ?
9. Because many run to James to deny the sufficiency of Christ alone and say-one is also justified before God by their works. But once Christ is not ENOUGH TO STAND ALONE IN JUSTIFICATION, we automatically have a false gospel.
10. Faith and works do not justify before God-because remission of sin and reconciliation was ONLY by the shedding of blood of Christ-this ALONE PROPITIATED FOR OUR SIN. WORKS do not propitiate for sin and thus cannot be good or just grounds of justification before God.
