Paedobaptists and Credobaptists disagree on the baptism of infants, but we both agree that unbaptized adults who profess faith in Christ should be baptized. The New Testament knows nothing of an unbaptized Christian. We Reformed Christians who hold to infant baptism, do so mainly because of our understanding of the covenant. We believe that children have always been included in the covenant, whether one lived under the Old Covenant or the New Covenant. Going a step further, we also believe that the sign of the covenant should be given to children under the New Covenant, just as it was under the Old Covenant for 2100 years. The covenant also relates to how we raise our kids. We raise them based on God's promise to be God to our children, and we raise them within the covenant as the people of God. Nevertheless, children raised in the church, within the covenant, have a responsibility to put their faith in Jesus Christ.
