One of my deacon's pointed out last Sunday morning that I color in my Bible, so this morning's study for Wednesday serves to show he is right...and yes, the picture contains my sermon notes. Here is the spoiler alert for Wednesday night.
1. Obey God rather than men. Remind us of the purpose of government: to be a "minister of God to thee for good" (Romans 13::3). 2. Peter and the other apostles in Acts preached a unified message, the gospel: Christ's death, burial, resurrection and ascension. 3. Who is THE PRINCE prophetically (Daniel 9:25)? Peter's short sermon (4 verses) is offering a Saviour to Israel, not a restored kingdom by driving out the gentiles. 4. The apostles were His witnesses, not referring to being eyewitnesses but rather they witnessed (by teaching and preaching) the gospel. 5. The Holy Ghost is given to those who obey--by believing and trusting in the gospel (not based on Faith and works). 6. Verse 33 (next page), what happens when people hear the truth? They want to kill the messenger. Ahhh, now that is not exactly unique to the first century.
Preachers should need one "prop" to teach--the B I B L E.
