In Acts 12 James the brother of John dies at the hand of Herod the King and Peter was imprisoned by the King also.
As we think about Peter’s imprisonment we need to realise that Peter was not imprisoned because of his sin.
Peter was going about the will of God and his Ministry was very effective. Yet Peter faces numbers of trials as you read the book of acts.
Not only Peter, but as you read the Bible you will often find God’s people under great trials.
Herod schemed to please the Jews by persecuting the Church and arresting Peter.
Remember that many Jews that were not converted to Christianity thought that the newly formed Church was a sect.
There were Jews that also despised the fact that Gentiles were now part of the Church.
Herod was on the throne but God was in charge.
Isn't it good to know as a Christian that whatever trial you face, God is in charge.
God was sovereign ruler over any trial that Peter or His people were going to endure. Psalm 103:19
Peter’s trial was going to bring God glory and in fact was beneficial for both Peter and the early Church.
What trial are you going through now? Don’t despair, look to the Lord.
Romans 8:28 KJV And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
One thing this trial did was to cause the Church to PRAY.
As the early Church stepped out in faith to serve God they saw God move in a miraculous way because of Prayer and I still believe that The Lord moves in the Church in miraculous ways because of Prayer.
