We are grateful for another opportunity to come to the Lord's Supper. This is the ordinance that He has appointed as the time when we would remember His atoning death on Calvary's cross. In order to properly prepare ourselves to come to the Table, in this sermon I will develop the great theme of God's sacrificial love for His people. Is there any greater theme in the whole world? I will present it under three headings, the first of which will deal with the cause of His sacrificial love. After exposing several wrong views, I will affirm the right view. From there, secondly, I will expound the demonstration of this sacrificial love from Romans 5. it is utterly amazing to consider the extent to which God was willing to go in order to demonstrate His love. And then, thirdly, I will highlight the necessity of this love. It is absolutely essential for the people of God for a variety of reasons. The conclusion will simply be a lengthy quote by Charles Spurgeon which captures the practical essence of this great theme. May the Lord be pleased to bless His word to our hearths, and then to be present with us at the Table.
