Israel knew that God required a sacrifice for sin. They also knew that they had to continually offer sacrifices because animal sacrifices could never wipe away sin. They knew that thousands upon thousands of animals were sacrificed - and many more would need to be. But Christ was offered up once for sin for all time. Thus we are accepted in Him - and in His merit
