Paul's final section in this context addresses the question of virgins in the Church and whether or not they should marry. It's likely the Corinthians raised this issue in their letter as part of their inquiry regarding celibacy as a superior lifestyle for believers (cf. 7:25 with 7:1). Paul spoke to the question of virgins marrying, but again from the vantage point of his general ethic that Christians should be content to remain as they are. In that sense this passage contributes nothing new to Paul's instruction; however, what it does reveal is Paul's reason for his ethic: Christians are to be content to remain in the condition in which they were called because of the "present distress." This messages considers what Paul meant by that phrase and why it led him to the conviction he promoted in all the churches.
