The Lord is very close to those whose hearts are shattered and whose spirits have been reduced to fine powder. For those are the ones He loves to use. God sees the broken and unlike kids who see a broken toy and would throw it out as useless He specializes in using them. A broken vessel is useless, like a parachute patched up with duct tape to us. But God will take the broken vessels and strengthen them to show His might. We need to remember what God has done for us. God will use the broken pieces of the ship to get us to the other side. The storm may be raging but God will carry us over because He has promised us He would. We need to believe God. Sometimes we are the broken pieces that someone is holding on to that God is using. Occasionally God will use broken clothes to lift someone up. What we throw out God will use to help the next person, to Him they still have value. Even broken clay is used by God. We are that broken clay. God has entrusted us with the gospel to present to a lost and dying world. The attitude of I'm saved and that's good enough is wrong. That keeps us from being used by God. And while God is using these broken things (us) He will also mend us of our brokenness.
