Scripture: Acts 22:30-23:35 Text: same Sermon: THE APOSTLE PAUL'S TROUBLES IN JERUSALEM #3 Points: I. The Conflict with the Sanhedrin II. The Comfort from the Lord Jesus III. The Conspiracy to Kill Paul
When the Apostle Paul was heading for Jerusalem to celebrate the Pentecost, he was warned the troubles and bondage awaited him.
Undisuaded, he continued his journey there. When in the Temple going through the process of purification, he was falsely accused of bringing a gentile into the Temple. He was attacked and beaten and nearly killed.
In our passage today Paul, after stating that he had lived with a clear conscience his whole life, he was struck at the command of the High Priest. He rebuttled by calling him a white washed whale.
After being told that he was the High Priest, he apologized and then changed tactics and stated that he was being opposed because he was a Pharisee and believed in the resurrection. This resulted in a general melee and Paul had to be rescued from them.
Following this we find Paul is the potential victim of an assassination plot... but he is protected and sent to Governor Felix.
