Acts 7:44-53 – Stephen before the Sanhedrin (part 4) – Sermon Outline Intro: Stephen relays the history of the Tabernacle in the wilderness, which Israel spurned in favor of the tabernacle of Moloch/idols, not offering sacrifices to God. David desired to build God a house/Temple, which his son Solomon did. But God cannot be contained in temples made with hands, for He is the unmade Maker of all! Need: Stephen levels the Jewish leaders as the betrayers and murderers of Christ, just as their forefathers did to all God's prophets. Both their heart/ears are uncircumcised, rebellious, & sinful. They lack love and Truth. Theme: Israel rejects God's glory and reimagines it with the work of their own hands.
1. Israel confining God to their hand-made Temple is idolatrous blasphemy of God's sovereign glory. (44-47) 2. Israel is sentenced as blasphemers of the Holy Spirit, proven by murdering Christ and breaking His law. (47-53)
