The History Channel miniseries, Hatfields & McCoys, were the most watched entertainment programs in the history of cable TV.
Being from this family line, this miniseries did stir some things in me. It wasn’t necessarily pleasant, but it caused me to thank God for forgiveness in Christ, and the fact that our faith is real, and real change can be had by being born again, and filled with the Spirit, no matter how much bitterness and pride has ruled in our lives.
Obadiah is the shortest book of the OT, and it’s not quoted in the NT, but its message still rings true. Pride was and is the sin that drags people down to hell.
The bitterness of Esau corrupted a whole nation of his descendants, and this is relayed to us in the OT version of the “Hatfields & McCoys”, the book of Obadiah.
You are either on the side of destruction or the side of deliverance, one of God’s people or one of God’s enemies.

Extremely convicting You can't listen to this one without being convicted of the darkness of our human hearts.

One Of A Kind This sermon is one of those you don't want to pass up. Not only because of the references to the Hatfield and McCoy mini-series and the family connection. But because of the bitterness and pride that should be rooted out of all of us. God help us all.
