Acts 15 is a chapter that is often overlooked, yet the apostles argue strongly for important, non-negotiable doctrines and there are other vital lessons that we can draw from the chapter.
We start by observing the apostles arguing that it is not necessary for the New Testament church to adopt the old Jewish rights and ceremonies that the Israelites followed. They were never designed to provide salvation, but instead acted as a training ground for believers prior to the coming of Christ.
Following this, we take away three other key lessons. Firstly, the way in which this passage underlines that we are saved through faith in Christ alone, secondly, the importance of purifying the heart and thirdly, applications for today from James' recommendations that are written in the letter from the apostles to the Gentile believers in Antioch.
Here is instruction in some of the most foundational doctrines of the faith.
