Isaiah was not a prophet of gloom, but focussed much upon the work and person of the coming Messiah. Chapter 42 opens with Christ described as a servant, and verse 2 emphasises His gentleness and humility. Verse 3 portrays the tenderness of Christ in dealing with seeking souls.
Our focus, however, is upon verse 16, which speaks of the spiritually blind. We dissect this verse, and discover how it provides us with a guide to eternal life. Christ is the way to heaven, and we explore the pathways appointed by Him: conviction of sin, repentance, prayer, trusting the Saviour and submission to the Lord.
Christ can do so much for our souls, and this is displayed by â€the prophet as he proclaims that Christ will 'make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight'. Here is great encouragement for seeking souls!
