We come this week to the sixth angel, the sixth trumpet/the second woe. It commences with a voice from the altar and calls for the releasing of four angels who had previously been held back, now let loose to bring destruction. Let us not be confused by bad teaching, or bewitched by a world that does not wish to discuss consequences for sin. These woes have weight, they possess horror, for to reject the mercy that comes by embracing the Messiah, is to welcome fire and brimstone, it is to welcome unbridled judgment. The terror of violence against judgment is one things, but the true horror is when men, refusing to see embrace refuse to repent and instead cling to the horrors of the pit and call them good.
