Have you ever been a Hypocrite when you Judge? Jesus tells us how to Judge Righteously, and He shows us what self-righteous wolves are like.
Jesus is tearing these religious hypocrites apart publicly, he is joking with the crowd and causing the people to ridicule the religious leaders. Listen to what he is saying. You judgmental hypocrites, remember he called them white washed tombs before. He says you tell everyone how they should live and you condemn them when they fail your perfect standard. And you are walking around with a house sized Dokos coming out of your eye, You cannot see anything. In Matt 15, he told his disciples to leave these religious wolves alone. He said they were quote Matt 15:14 they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
The Jews were taught that all people outside of themselves were dogs and did not deserve any love or compassion. In the Talmud it is written "If a Jew see a Gentile who has fallen in the sea, by no means should he give him a helping hand... the Gentile is not his neighbor. It is surely written, Do not rise up against the blood of your neighbor. But this man is not your neighbor." Ancient Roman writes said that the Jews hated the world and wanted to see everyone destroyed, but the problem was that even the Rabbi's who taught looked down with hate and disdain at those who they taught. There never was any true loving judgment.
This is the standard of judgment that is typical of the world. It is harsh and hate filled, out of vengeance. The judgment here is self-righteous and hypocritical. It is warned about in other passages like Romans 2:22–24
