We are reading from Lamentations where we're going to see His heart from the saddest chapter in the whole Bible, which comes in the centre of the saddest book in the whole Bible, in response to the saddest event in the whole Bible: exile. And although God does express anger, and he does judge his people, and he does bring painful things to pass sometimes, that's not the essence of his heart towards us.
