Beware of Being Mere Hearers of the Word!
In His sermon on the mount our Lord concludes His warnings to be certain we are true citizens of His kingdom. He first warned us against missing the narrow gate that leads to salvation, He then warned us to beware of false prophets, and then He warned us against the dangers of false conversion. Now He summarizes all He has said by warning us against the danger of being a hearer of the Word rather than an effectual doer of it.
