Glorifying God By Engaging Unbelievers Part1: Asserting The Authority of Jesus' Witness (12-20)
We must confront unbelievers with the truth! Part I—Asserting the Authority of Jesus' Witness (12-20) Drawing unbelievers out (12) Listening to their diversionary attack (13) Shaping that attack into assertions of truth (14-19) Jesus' self-testimony is true (14) Jesus' judgment is true (15-18) Unbelievers do not know Jesus or the Father (19) Unbelievers operate under the hand of Providence (20) Part II—Asserting the Consequences of Rejecting Jesus' Witness (21-30) Part III—Asserting the Distinction Between “Fathers” (31-59) Applications We must unashamedly declare Jesus as the Light of the world! When challenged, we must: Assert that Jesus' self-testimony is true (8:14) Assert that Jesus' judgment is true (5:28-29) Assert that they do not know either Jesus or His Father (8:19) Assert that God is sovereign—He always accomplishes His purpose! Urge them to follow Jesus—to have the light of life! (John 8:12)
