Aim: To repent of our sins—as we embrace the Christ of the gospel of grace.
Exegesis: Contrition leads to revived hearts, because of God's great salvation (v. 14), tender mercy (v. 15), loving knowledge (v. 16), and gentle correction (vv. 17-18). Contrition leads to revived peace, which results in the healing of Christ's church (v. 19) and the frustration of God's enemies. (vv. 20-21).
Key verse: v. 15 ''For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: 'I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.'''
