Despite the fact that the Lord Jesus has been very specific concerning the qualifications of character required of a man if he is to serve as an elder or deacon, most modern churches have turned a deaf ear to their Lord and Master. In this sermon we explore the eight qualifications given for deacons. And then we focus upon an often overlooked part of a man's testing: the qualifications of his wife. A man's wife is a part of his calling, whether he is to be an elder or a deacon, and a wife either commends his ministry, or she disqualifies him for it. In like manner the behavior of his children must also be examined. May the Lord equip His church to know how to examine the leaders God raises up in her midst.
