The Atrocity of the Cut-up Concubine! Judges 20:1-48;21:1-25.The last five chapters of Judges are not in chronological order and do not follow the career and death of Samson. The lessons are believed to happen near the beginning of the book, possibly during the time of Othniel. This message shows Spiritual anarchy and rebellion lead to moral collapse of a nation from God. A Levite from the hill country of Ephraim takes a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah, but she is unfaithful and returns to her father in Bethlehem. They stop off in Gibeah over night to rest. They are brought into the house of an old man. The Levite's concubine was gang raped and left for dead on the doorstep of his overnight host at Gibeah and the Levite take the wife home and cuts her up in 12 pieces and sends them out to all the tribes, the other Israelite tribes decided to bring the unrepentant men of Gibeah to account for this atrocious crime. This causes a civil war among the tribes. The 11 tribes end up killing every one in the Tribe of Benjamin except 600 men. In order for the tribe to survive they need to come up with wives for the tribe of Benjamin without break their vows to not give up any of their daughters. No Matter how bad things get.Remind your- self that God's people know how it's going to end!
