When David went to fight Goliath, it was his first foray into public life, and both his brother and King Saul scoffed at his ability to save Israel from the Philistines. But David trusted in God to help him, and obtained a great victory.
King Saul inquired around as to whose son David was. After killing Goliath, David informed Saul that he was the son of Jesse.
All this reminds us of our Lord Jesus' great victory over death and hell at Calvary - for He was mocked as unable to save us. Furthermore, the question was constantly raised: whose son is this man? In Christ's great victory, like David's before, there is a final declaration of whose Son He is.
Mary was promised by Gabriel that Jesus would be the Son of God, conceived of the Holy Ghost.
