And when the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and put him back in his place. But when they rose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the LORD, and the head of Dagon and both his hands were lying cut off on the threshold. Only the trunk of Dagon was left to him —1 Samuel 5:3–4 (from 1 Samuel 5:1–12) ESV.

Wonderful! What a pleasure I had in listening to this sermon! God is highly exalted in it. With humor and great attention given to details, the preacher presents God's victory over Dagon. Great is our Lord! It is true: God has no need of us. He uses us and He takes pleasure in doing so, in His grace, for our benefit. But God is almighty. Pastor Goligher, Satan does not like when God is exalted like this and he derided like this. He will attack you - may God give you great power to stand!
