Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians sometime before the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem that were being tempted to go back to the Old Covenant instead of resting in the New Covenant made by Jesus Christ. The main thrust of the book is to teach the supremacy of Christ to all people and all events. The Old Testament is full of prophecies, typologies, covenants, prophets, priest, and kings that all act as arrows pointing to the One who would fulfill them: the Christ. Now that Jesus has come, the people should rest in who He is and what He has done to accomplish salvation.
