In the same way that the first section of the Nicene Creed declares that there is only one God, the Father, so this section on Jesus Christ declares that he is the one Lord. As we move through this section of the second major part of the Creed, we see that Jesus Christ existed in eternal relationship with the Father as his Son. In addition, we see that indeed Jesus Christ is not 99.9% but 100% God. As the Creed says , he is true God from true God (or very God of very God) and is of the same essence or substance as the Father. Christ is the agent through whom God created the worlds. This Confession of Christ's unmistakeable deity contradicts many other belief systems in our world such as of Islam and Jehovah's Witnesses who do not believe Jesus was God in human flesh. But because Jesus Christ was fully God, 100% God, we have confidence that his sacrifice for our sins and his glorious resurrection from the dead comprise historical and spiritual realities that are absolutely true and effective for the salvation of sinners and for the establishment fellowship with him.
