We return today to our study of 2 Thessalonians. We address 2:13-17, in which the apostle referenced the “traditions” that were to guide these believers in their faith and walk. These Traditions” were the apostolic witness to the gospel that later became codified in the New Testament. This passage leads us to address again the critically essential doctrine of sola scriptura , which is foundational to a sound hope. We also take the occasion to refute the claim of Roman Catholicism that their Tradition has equal authority with the Holy Scriptures.
