In one of the most important chapters of all Scripture, Paul declares, defends, and describes the Resurrection of Believers from the Dead in 1 Corinthians 15.
In verses 35-58--after declaring and defending the truth of the bodily resurrection--Paul describes the how and what of the bodily resurrection of the saints. How can a dead body disintegrating in the grave be raised to new life? And with what form would such a raised body be?
Paul explains that the sinner saved by Christ will be given a spiritual body--supernatural and Spirit-filled, but not immaterial--at Christ's return. This spiritual body is formed from the earthly body resurrected and transformed into a glorified body like that of Christ's. And this transformed body is a necessary--necessary!--clothing for entrance and existence in God's presence and heaven.
And then and only then will death be finally swallowed up in victory, with man fully and finally redeemed! - 1 Corinthians 15, pt 3: Resurrection Described (vv35-58) I. Glorious Body (vv35-49) ---A.
