Family is important. Your spouse and your children are a priority and God's gift to you. There's another family that is of great value to the Lord: the family of God. Every true Christian needs a church and every true Christian needs a pastor. The believer has been adopted into the family of God. All belong. Everyone is important. No one is to be left behind. We are to be loyal in love. We are to be givers as well as takers. We are to respect the different pathways to maturity people have come and we ought to be fiercely protective of the flock from attacks of those outside it who seek to do us harm. C.S. Lewis was right: you have never met a mere mortal. Each person is an eternal soul that will exist forever. The implications are enormous. Remember Jesus is coming back, and he's not coming back for the government or nation. He's coming back for the church! He's coming back for you and me, this family of families.
