The topic of Post-Modernism is not usually a familiar one to most Christian believers. It does not have its origin in the Christian church but nevertheless it has entered the culture, the church and individual Christian thinking to the extent that it has become a highly significant factor in the world today. This has occurred slowly and subtly without sufficient awareness on the part of Christians. We have previously introduced Post Modernism and explored the emergence of Post Modernism in this age. In this session we will explore two main states of thinking experienced in Post-Modernism, that of uncertainty and meaninglessness. By denying objective truth, Post-Modernism necessarily deprives itself of any objective basis for establishing certainty or meaning to life. Consequently, uncertainty and meaninglessness are generated within its adherents and asserted by them as virtues in their understanding of the world and reality. One can only speculate on the eventual effect on the individual, on society and in the Church under this influence. Several possibilities are considered now with further aspects to be developed in later sessions.
