Rob Zins, Th.M, Dallas Theological Seminary (website: http://www.CWRC-RZ.ORG ) to discuss "The Sacrament of Penance" (also commonly called the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession) which is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church in which the faithful are absolved from sins committed after Baptism. Mortal sins must be confessed and venial sins may be confessed for devotional reasons. According to the current doctrine and practice of the Church, only those ordained as priests may grant absolution of sins to those who show up to confess their sins in a confessional box. Only 2% of Catholics actually go regularly to Roman Catholic confession according to an article in the Boston Globe at https://www.bostonglobe.com/ideas/2014/02/16/catholic-confession-steep-price/NbMVFfYljv26Gcphu17yPJ/story.html meaning 98% of Roman Catholics do not do it all.
