It is no small thing to pray—knowing we need what only God can give. We like to think we are competent, and, while we can get away with it, strut our stuff. But all the big things in life, the eternal things, only God can do—things like God being reverenced, his plan being implemented and humans leaping like angels to do what he wants. And then the daily things, like bread, and sins, and dealing with evil—who can manage these without getting up tight and messing things up? Everyone needs to pray, and Jesus shows the way.
