What is the Scriptural perspective on immigration, aliens, foreigners, and minorities, among God's people? What should believers think as they see those who are struggling with English, or are new here?
Should Christians react with impatience, instant judgment based on appearances or stereotypes, or ignore people who are different? Do you find yourself subconsciously making judgments about people who appear different than you, ethnically, externally? Internally, are we indifferent, or interested in a special way to them? Do we think of outsiders, newcomers as people in need, to help, to show God's love to? If you see an Arab man with a turban or woman with head-covering, what do you think? Or when someone speaks and you can tell by their accent and broken English, they're clearly strangers and haven't been here long and aren't assimilated into our country or culture, what's my thought process? If we're looking through the lens of the Word and not the world in its classifications of people as “different” or “other,” we should view people not as man sees, by the outward appearance, but as the Lord sees them, their hearts. Gen 1-12 tell us they are not a different family or race than us, there's only one race, and we all have the same parents in Genesis, we're all the same inside, made in the image of God equally, regardless of skin we're the same in our sin, in need of the same Savior. God's people are to bless all peoples with the gospel, as part of God's promise and plan for all, and have a special opportunity to do that with foreigners (in OT "sojourners")among them: 1.
