Somewhere in Galilee, in about the year we call 20 AD, perhaps in the seaside town of Capernaum, which would later become the town of Jesus, a baby girl was born to the wife of a man named a man named Jairus, who would become (or who already was) a prominent man in that town. Meanwhile, that same year, perhaps in that same town, a woman developed what we would call a severe gynecological problem. She was bleeding internally, and the bleeding would not stop on its own. Twelve years later, the life of that afflicted woman and the life of the daughter of Jairus would intersect in a remarkable way that would be forever preserved for us in the pages of Scripture.
