Jesus is once again accused by the pharisees of breaking the Sabbath. By His reply, Jesus here reveals to us and calls us to embrace both the reason for the Sabbath day and His own ongoing relation to that day. "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also the Lord of the Sabbath." We can rest assured that Jesus did not break the Sabbath on this occasion and indeed never did.
