Our focus today will be on this encouraging admonition from I Peter 1:13: “Fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ”. It is significant that this phrase is actually the first imperative, the first direct command in the chapter. Everything else is preliminary and preparatory for this action in which we are to engage wholeheartedly as believers. This hopeful command has a context, and this is what we will be exploring during our time together, along with what our response is meant to be. To completely hope in future grace: 1. Is the most appropriate response we can make to God’s gracious actions toward us.
2. We must “prepare our minds for action” by the consistent intake of Biblical truth.
3. We must “keep sober in spirit” by guarding our hearts against anything that desensitizes us to God’s grace.
4. Is encouraged by the attitude of both the prophets and the angels.
5. Is the sustaining reality which enables us to persevere in the trials which test our faith.
6. Is not an external matter of the body, but an internal issue of the mind and heart.
