Job's friends wanted to explain God's purpose and defend God and in doing so they slandered Job. Sometimes the wisest thing we can say is, we do not know. Job's friends could not understand that someone can do the right thing and still suffer. We are finite and have limited understanding, while God is infinite. God is always, totally in charge. Job's suffering was a foreshadowing of the only truly sinless Man, Jesus. In the midst of Job's suffering he realizes that God is in control of the pain and he realizes that his only hope is in God. Whatever God chooses to put us through we ought to put our faith in Him and praise Him. Job trusted in God, even when he did not understand what was going on. God is in control and we can trust in Him.
