'The choice is a clear one. The basic thought in all unbelieving science is this: 'all things continue as they were from the beginning' (2 Peter 3:4). In other words, the unbelieving scientist observes how things are happening now, and then he concludes that this is the only way that things ever have happened. But the basic thought in Christian faith is that the Bible tells us the truth when it tells us about things that are not happening now. We think, for example, of the miracles of Christ. At the wedding feast at Cana (John 2:1-11) Jesus made wine-the best wine-by an instantaneous act of divine power. It was just like wine that would ordinarily take even a hundred years to make through usual processes. This, we believe, is a true indication of God's power in creation. If the Lord could create wine in an instant, why should we not believe also that He created the universe in six days?' – G.I. Williamson
