Peter identifies Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. His crucifixion had been by their wicked hands, but also by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God. Peter affirmed that David predicted Christ's resurrection from the dead. He cited Psalm 16, and affirmed that this could not apply to David, for David even then was in the grave and his sepulcher was known. Messiah's body would not see corruption, and the apostles were witnesses of this truth.
Having risen, Christ was now ascended into heaven and had claimed the throne of David at the right hand of the Father.
