How effective are you in praying for your missionary?
Do you appreciate the immense influence you can be when, from the homeland, you plead for your missionary on the field of service?
Paul, the great pioneer missionary, often appealed to God's people to pray for the success of his efforts. 2 Thessalonians 3:1&2 is a classic example: “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith” (cf. Romans 15:30, Ephesians 6:19, Colossians 4:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:25).
This message is more than a sermon: it is a rallying call to take a missionary / missionaries to our hearts and pray them into blessing!
1. The SYNCHRONISED EFFORT In Prayer For Missionaries.
There is a triangular partnership between the missionary, the church, and God:
• The church prays, • the missionary labours, • the Lord blesses!
2. The SPECIAL ELEMENTS In Prayer For Missionaries.
Paul exhorts us to pray for:
• The Diffusion of God's Word, • The Defence of God's Workers.
3. The SPECIFIC EXAMPLES Of Prayer For Missionaries.
Reflections on the Moravian missionaries (300 sent out in 65 years!), plus the plea of William Carey (Father of Modern Missions) in India.
4. The SUSTAINED EARNESTNESS In Prayer For Missionaries.

Great Sermon! As one of "your missionaries" I was really encouraged to hear this clarion call for prayer. A good practical sermon and certainly appreciated here. Just for prayer (while I'm here) I listened to this sermon coming home from a market town here in Co. Cork where I had been with our bookstall. A Roman Catholic man from Co. Kerry puchased a Bible (Authorised Version). We had a good chat as well about the things of God. "Brethren, pray for us."

Great Sermon! This is perhaps the most important message that could be preached these days. It need not be so classical, but the truth of it rings clear, and is so needed. I hope many hear and obey this message for many years to come.
I am in a pagan land, and I can tell when the church is and is not praying.

Great Sermon! This message is so needed for today, especially. Excellent thoughts for how to pray effectively for our missionaries. Would be a great resource for teaching to others.
