New Heart, New Spirit_23 Ezekiel 27:1-36Shitting Down What No One Could. The city of Tyre was the trading center of the world . Through the centuries, Tyre had become the gateway to the sea for nations both far and near.God was deeply grieved over Tyre's pride, conceit, and self-exaltation.The city claimed to be self-sufficient, a model of perfection. Located on the coast, it was a naturally beautiful city. As one of the major trading centers of the world, it used its enormous wealth from trade to enhance the city's beauty, offering water recreation and all the pleasures and possessions of the world to visitors and citizens alike.God warns us against pride. In the eyes of God it is a great sin to consider ourselves better than others and to look down upon them. When people exalt themselves, they fail to think about the needs of others. Often they humiliate and abuse others. Think about all the people who exalt themselves above others and harm them in some way. Tyre would not escape God's judgment. Because of the city's enormous wealth, the people had become proud and exalted themselves over others. Furthermore, they had become materialistic. Instead of loving God and using things, they loved things and abused people.
