In chapter 13 the third woe continues with the introduction of the beast of the sea and the beast of the land, the antichrist and the false prophet.
The Scripture says they receive their power, their throne, and their permission (exousia) from the dragon, who is Satan, the great deceiver. Satan's only power is his ability to deceive and to lie. In this chapter he perpetrates his greatest lie that he is God, the beast of the sea is his messiah, and the beast of the land is his miracle worker. This unholy triunity mocks everything about the real trinity - God, His Son, and His Holy Spirit.
The chapter ends by revealing the mark of the beast, the 666. Opinions are divided on the mark of the beast but sure of this, the mark is also a lie, because everything about the dragon and the two beasts is just that - a lie.
