Last week we looked at how Jesus questioned His disciples about their profession that they “now believed”. He knew that they still were not ready. They would be scattered at His crucifixion. It is with this background in mind that we come to the last verse in John 16, Christ's promise of Peace. Amazingly, Christ's promise of peace is at the height of the hatred against Him. It is the night that He will go forward and lay down His life for His followers. This Memorial Day, let’s look at the one who is worthy of our honor, who was died, yet now lives making intersession for us. Who died, not to give us a temporal freedom, but who gave us a freedom that is eternal, that is secured in heaven and who with this freedom, gives us peace.
